Maple Festivals & Events
Every year Simcoe County is home to a number of festivals and events that celebrate maple syrup and its importance in Ontarian culture...But this year the fun must take place safely at home. We're looking forward to welcoming you in 2022!
Maple Weekend – First weekend of April every year
Maple Weekend gives you a first-hand opportunity to see how maple products are produced, from tree to table. There will be free samples and lots of fun! You can visit local sugar houses free of charge and learn about the centuries-old craft of maple sugaring. Enjoy pancake breakfasts, sugar bush trails, sugar making demonstrations, taffy on snow, horse-drawn sleigh rides, and more.
Each producer has a unique list of activities and experiences in store for you. Check out each producer's listing to see what specific activities they are offering and come prepared to buy syrup – you're definitely going to want to take some home with you!
Experience the traditional maple sugaring craft and taste why pure Ontario maple syrup has long been a favourite springtime treat.
Sweetwater Festival – Wye Marsh, Midland
Sweetwater is not your average maple syrup festival - it's so much more! Escape to a time when maple syrup was made over an open fire, experience our history and explore nature at its best. The festival celebrates the history of maple syrup, and the role it plays in our cultural and natural heritage.
Beyond the sugar shack tours, pancakes and taffy tasting, there is much more to the weekend long festival including birds of prey demonstrations, live music from local artists, kids games & activities, woodcarving demos; and of course chickadee feeding!
Elmvale Maple Syrup Festival – Elmvale
Every year the town of Elmvale explodes in a celebration of Nature's rites of Spring – the running of liquid gold – Ontario Pure Maple Syrup. Vendors line the streets with offerings of maple syrup, food, books, collectibles and other country treasures. A bus takes visitors on sugarbush tours and an all day pancake breakfast is a must for all visitors. There's also live music, log sawing and pancake eating contests. The whole family will enjoy the charming village of Elmvale and its annual Maple Syrup Festival.
Spring Tonic Festival – Tiffin Centre
Celebrate the season at the annual Spring Tonic Maple Syrup Festival at the Tiffin Centre for Conservation. Maple syrup takes centre stage at the festival, with a pancake and sausage breakfast served daily until 2 p.m. Costumed re-enactors will be on hand to demonstrate pioneer and First Nations methods of making maple syrup, and Tiffin's sugar shack will be open for visitors to see how syrup is made today. Tiffin maple syrup and other Simcoe County maple products will be available for purchase.
