Calling all butter tart lovers! Every year, Midland hosts the Butter tart Festival, an event dedicated to celebrating this iconic Canadian treat. Whether you’re a diehard fan or new to the butter tart scene, this festival will not disappoint! On Saturday, June 10th 2023 from 9am to 5pm, Downtown Midland will be hosting Canada’s original and largest butter tart festival! Where attendance has grown to 60,000 visitors approximately each year!
As one of the biggest events in the region with over 200 vendors lining the streets of Downtown Midland, the festival draws in visitors from all over Ontario and beyond. It’s a great way to explore Midland and discover all of the local flavors the area has to offer. The vendors will sell everything from butter tarts to handcrafted items from local artists. Be sure to pop into the unique downtown shops while attending the festival!
This festival is known for drawing in a large crowd of butter tart lovers from all over the country, so expect it to be busy! But don’t let the crowds deter you from enjoying all the festivities. With over 200 vendors in attendance, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to try out different butter tarts and other treats. Some vendors don’t using debt machines so be sure to bring some cash with you!

The Egg Farmers of Ontario Butter Tart Contest takes place each year. The judges will award the prize for the Best Butter Tart in Ontario! The contest has two categories Traditional and Wild Style. The contestants are mixed with professional and home bakers, so anyone can win!
Aside from the Butter Tart Contest, there are plenty of other activities to enjoy throughout the day. There are family-friendly live performances on the Dairy Farmers of Ontario Entertainment Stage, a Kids Zone, local crafts and artisanal products and plenty of delicious food options beyond butter tarts. You never know what you’ll come across next!

HOW TO GET THERE
To arrive at the festival you can take advantage of the free Faris Team Shuttle bus service that will be running continuously from 8:45am to 5:30pm. There is an option to use a free bike valet service as well as free transit on event day!
