Here’s a guide to some of our top beaches you should visit this summer with some insider tips too!

WASAGA BEACH

Wasaga-Beach

Location: 123 Beach Dr, Wasaga Beach, ON L9Z 2K2

Home to the world’s longest freshwater beach, Wasaga Beach is a must-visit destination in Simcoe County. Stretching over 14 kilometers, it offers soft sand, warm shallow waters, and a variety of recreational activities. From beach volleyball to water sports, and bustling beachfront shops and eateries, a great day of fun is waiting to be had! Don’t miss the breathtaking sunsets over Georgian Bay, which provide a perfect ending to your day.

Insider tip: Book daily vehicle permits in advance for Beach Areas 1-6. Parking is first-come, first-served at New Wasaga and Allenwood Beach Areas!

BALM BEACH

Location: 18 Tiny Beaches Rd N. Tiny, ON

A hidden gem along the shores of Georgian Bay, Balm Beach is perfect for those seeking a quieter, more relaxed beach experience. Alongside its nostalgic charm, the clear blue waters are ideal for swimming and kayaking and families will appreciate the playground and picnic areas, making it a great spot for a laid-back day by the water.

Insider tip: Enjoy live music on the beach at the Balm Beach stage every Thursday throughout the summer months!

INNISFIL BEACH PARK

Innisfil Beach Park is a popular spot for both locals and visitors as it features multiple sandy beaches, boat launches, and ample green space for picnics and barbecues. The park is well-equipped with amenities such as washrooms, playgrounds, and sports facilities, making it an excellent choice for a full day of family fun! They even have a designated dog beach area which is a fenced-in, off-leash area at Beach 6 near the north end of the park. This section provides a safe and enjoyable space for dogs to socialize, exercise, and splash around in the water!

Insider tip: Bring your fishing gear as this spot is popular for fishing with several areas designated for anglers.

COUCHICHING BEACH PARK

Location: 140 Canice St, Orillia, ON L3V 4H8

Located on the shores of Lake Couchiching, this beach park offers a unique blend of natural beauty and modern conveniences. This 14.5-acre park is one of Orillia’s richest attractions. Explore the waterfront trails, drop a line to catch some fish, and take in the spectacular views. The sandy beach is ideal for swimming, while the adjacent parkland provides plenty of space for picnicking, walking, and cycling. The nearby town of Orillia is home to charming shops, cafes, and cultural attractions, allowing you to easily combine a beach day with some local exploration.

SUNSET POINT BEACH

Location: 60 Saint Lawrence St., Collingwood, ON

With its iconic Collingwood waterfront location, Sunset Point Beach makes this a special place for all occasions. Vast greenspace, the nearby enviro-park, volleyball courts, access to waterfront trails, canteen area and washroom facilities – this park has it all!

Insider tip: Visit in the late afternoon or early evening to catch a spectacular sunset over the water with the famous Collingwood terminals set as its backdrop.

WASHAGO CENTENNIAL BEACH PARK

Nestled within the Township of Severn is this hidden gem on the shores of Lake Couchiching. Covering 21 acres, Washago Centennial Park invites visitors to enjoy a peaceful picnic, leisurely swim, or simply relax while watching the world go by. The park boasts amenities such as a playground, outdoor fitness equipment, a pavilion, and a ball diamond. Bring your canoe, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard and explore the northern end of Lake Couchiching, perhaps planning a visit to the charming village of Washago.

Insider tip: There are plenty of shaded areas under the trees if you ever need a break from the sun. Keep an eye out for local wildlife, including birds and small animals!

While you’re there: Enjoy other activities close by including Coldwater Canadiana Museum, cool off with some ice cream at Scoopz, or journey through the scenic Uhtoff Trail.

OTHER TIPS FOR YOUR BEACH VISIT

Please note: there are no lifeguards on duty at our public beaches. So please swim safely, We highly recommend downloading the Swim Guide App to check the water quality, as it can change frequently due to weather and other conditions. Water levels can also be affected due to weather conditions. Parking is available at the above beaches; however, a fee or permit may be required, so please check with the municipality before arriving. We like to keep our beaches clean and beautiful, so please take only pictures and leave only footprints. Pack your bags, gather your loved ones, and head to Simcoe County for an unforgettable summer beach experience!
